13 April 2018: in the Washington Business Journal comes a special news, "The Pentagon has created a new post to guide how it buys software". The news might seem trivial but in my opinion it is not. Let's try to understand why.

In the first place it is appropriate to say that the new assumption does not come from nothing. It is in fact Jeff Boleng, former officer of the Air Force, employed as Cyberspace Operation Officer for over twenty years, software engineer and computer science teacher at the Air Force Academy.

After his military career Jeff Boleng led the research and development sector of Carnegie Mellon University (remember that Carnegie Mellon was the first University to create a CERT in the distant 1988, naturally funded by DARPA!).

Now, Jeff Boleng's "in-service" return is significant of the importance of the software development industry and its military acquisitions. Jeff Boleng in particular will hold the position of a particular assistant for the software acquisition strategies and his most pressing commitment will be linked to the software developments of the FXXUM Joint Strike Fighter realized by Lockheed Martin Corporation.

Jeff Boleng is called to lead the new strategy of acquisition and deployment of American Defense software, a variant of "Agile" called Continuous Capability Development and Delivery (C2D2, for lovers of acronyms). This move shows how much attention is paid by the American DoD to the world of military software, also considering the enormous risks associated with the Cyber dimension.
