Italy is a strange country, one in which the inconclusiveness of institutions is flanked (and supplemented!) Personal excellence.
Today I want to tell you a case in which the initiative of an individual has done and is doing a lot in the field of information security.
It must be said that the single is also a friend and is called Piero Fontana, proudly Tuscan, an expert in information technology, a member of the Lions and Colonel of the Army Corps of Engineers.
Yesterday I met Piero, after many years, and beyond the personal pleasure of being able to have a coffee together and remember our past adventures, I was pleasantly surprised by his initiative "INTERconNETtiamoci but with his head!".
What does it consist of, you ask?
Simply in the computer security education of future Italian citizens, today elementary school children, making them more aware of the dangers on the Internet.
The meetings are of two types:
- those for children, which explain the opportunities offered by the network and the risks to which it is exposed; these meetings aim to make children understand how to behave on the Internet to avoid or reduce risks;
- those for parents and school staff, which also includes the legal aspects of behavior on the network.
The truly laudable initiative has met with considerable success and the numbers prove it:
- 167 meetings;
- 12.500 boys reached;
- 3100 between teachers and parents.
We are thinking of bringing "INTERconNET, let's go with our heads!" also in other regions.
