Presented yesterday in Verona, in the Red Room of Palazzo Scaligero, the Various Disaster Relief Management Exercise ("Vardirex"), a civil protection exercise that will see deployed in the field, for the first time with these assets, about 800 men expression of the professionalism of the Armed Forces and of theNational Alpine Association with the support of the Civil Protection Department.
The operational areas in three Regions (Veneto, Piedmont and Abruzzo) provide for unison intervention in different emergency situations, with the aim of verifying the procedures and interoperability between the components involved in rescue operations in the event of public disasters .
During the exercise, which will take place from 17 to 21 October, the operating system of a complex organization where both military and civil personnel work will be tested in relation to the coordination needs at local and national level, in order to make more and more efficient emergency response capabilities.
The event was presented by Roberto Giarola director of 'Volunteering and Resources Office of the Department of Civil Protection, from gen. ca Claudio Berto, commander of the Alpine Troops of the Army and Sebastiano Favero, president of theNational Alpine Association.

THE OPERATIONS
The intervention and the management of emergencies resulting from a flood in the Fossano area will be simulated, where the 32 regiment of genius spoils, the "Taurinense" regiment, the 2 ° regiment of the Alps and the 34 ° group Squadroni "Toro" will intervene on the ground next to teams expressed by the ANA and managed by the local civil protection structure.
In Veneto, in the Monte Baldo area, we will intervene on the occasion of a seismic event.
The army with personnel of the 2 ° genius guastatori regiment and of the logistic regiment "Julia"; the National Alpine Association with a mountaineering team and its field hospital. The Field Hospital will be on site transported by aeronautical assets of the 34 flock.
In Veneto, the operating room will also be installed, which will simultaneously manage the three emergency scenarios and the dozens of interventions on the ground.
In Abruzzo, in Coppito near L'Aquila, staff of the 9 ° alpine regiment, of the battalion "Vicenza" will work with the ANA staff in the intervention for an earthquake that will lead to the management of displaced persons.
Participants in the exercise in addition to the Department of Civil Protection, aliquots of territorial civil protection organizations and prefectures together with the municipal administrations affected by the event.
The occurrence of three different calamitous events, in three areas and almost simultaneously, will greatly increase management difficulties, representing, if not unicum, a rarity.
In particular, in Fossano, a reception camp will be set up and a “Bailey” bridge will be thrown over a watercourse to restore the road network. In this context, an alpine rescue team will intervene to find the missing. A reception center will then be set up, equipped with an advanced dressing room.
In Veneto, in the municipalities of Caprino Veronese and Ferrara di Monte Baldo, rescuers will intervene in the recovery of dispersed personnel and in the management of an emergency with dozens of injured in which the field hospital supports the local national health structure injured by the earthquake . Even Army Special Forces assets will be employed in this scenario.
In Abruzzo a first reception camp will be set up with a medical post and the civil and military rescue teams will manage the support for the evacuation of a school. In the Coppito area, fire-fighting structures will also be used with the use of Air Force aircraft.
The Regional Civil Protection, the Prefectures, the Provinces and the Municipalities concerned will be part of the emergency with the activation of the Municipal Operative Centers and of the Relief Centers with the opening of the Local Operative Rooms.
