Remained warlike in Ragusa, the 4 ° Guild Engineers Regiment intervenes

In Ragusa, in via Stiela, an unexploded war device dating back to the Second World War was found. The device was destroyed by a specialized team, called the EOD nucleus, of the 4 ° Regiment Genio Guastatori of Palermo.

The artifact was identified by the Italian Army soldiers as a 45 mm "Brixia" mortar bomb of Italian nationality.

The device, which was in a very bad state of preservation, was transported to a special quarry where the specialists of the Military Engineers destroyed it safely making it shine.

The work of removal and destruction of unexploded war artifacts for the whole Sicilian island is carried out by the highly trained and specialized soldiers of the 4 ° Guastatori Regiment of Palermo; these specialists are the EOD cores that besides operating on the national territory are frequently involved in peace missions that the Italian Army carries out in crisis areas abroad, such as Kosovo, Lebanon and Afghanistan.

During the 2013 the EOD cores of the 4 ° Regiment destroyed more than 100 weapons found in Sicily, thus ensuring the safety of places for the population.

Last 17 February the 4 ° Regiment returned from a demanding mission in Afghanistan lasting over 5 months, the Regiment's flag guided and inspired the 4 ° sappers to the maximum commitment, it was from the second world war that the banner did not leave the ground patriotism.
