This afternoon, in the Palazzo of the "Gran Guardia" of Verona, the ceremony of rotation was held to lead the command of the Support Terrestrial Operating Forces (Support COMFOTER) between the general of the army corps Amedeo Sperotto and the parish of Giuseppenicola Tota.
To give prestige to the ceremony the presence of the Chief of Staff of the Army, general of the army corps Salvatore Farina, the deputy prefect of the city of Verona dr. Sidoti, the mayor of Verona avv. Sboarina, and numerous civil and military authorities, including all the commanders and deans of the dependent departments.
The mayor stressed that today is a day of celebration not only for the COMFOTER of Support but also for all the Veronese. In greeting General Sperotto, he thanked him for what he had done in recent years, underlining the importance of his proposal for a joint civic education activity in schools and the raising of the flag in Piazza Bra.
The general Sperotto, in greeting all the staff to his dependencies, recalled how the merit of the successes of the command is the result of professionalism, daily work, commitment, sacrifice and generosity put in place by every soldier. He then invited every soldier to be always proud of the path undertaken but humble and courageous in facing a life of responsibility and service.
The Army Chief of Staff praised the work of General Sperotto who was able to guide the complex articulation of the Support COMFOTER, from the very beginning, in an exemplary manner.
Today the command, the general of the army corps Farina recalled, has about 800 men employed in missions abroad and another 1200 in operations on the national territory including over 50 for the operation Safe Roads in the city of Verona. Among all these should be emphasized the work of the Genio departments still working in the earthquake zones as evidence of the constant and continued proximity of the Armed Forces to all citizens: the Army among the people, for the people.
General Farina concluded his speech wishing his staff "good luck" to General Tota with the certainty that he will have the support of invaluable collaborators.
The command of the Support Terrestrial Operative Forces provides for the direction, coordination and control of the commands and of the tactical and logistic support units of the Italian Army, of which it ensures the preparation, in a "dual use" perspective, at the premise of a operational employment both in Italy and abroad.
