NRDC-ITA hosts the 13 ^ LANDCOM Corps Commanders Conference

(To Army Majority State)
01/10/18

The 13 ^ ended a few days ago at the headquarters of NRDC-ITA Allied Land Command's Corps Commanders' Conference (LC3), hosted for the first time in Italy. The event saw the presence of over 40 NATO commanders and key leaders, who meet, with regular cadence, in order to develop a common vision of the future of the ground forces confronting the emerging challenges.

The short but intense activity, organized in collaboration with the LANDCOM, based in Izmir (Turkey), assumes particular importance for the choice of venue as the NRDC-ITA will hold until the end of 2018 the role of Command of the Component Terrestrial (Land Component Command, LCC) of the NATO Response Force (NRF).

The two days of work constituted a significant moment of reflection, comparison and sharing to identify useful solutions, aimed at increasing the security guaranteed by the Atlantic Alliance. Several important interventions have generated interesting debates on European collective defense.

The commander of LANDCOM, General Thomson, has indeed recognized the importance of knowing how to adapt quickly to the complex, uncertain and dynamic security scenario while Dr. Manza, assistant to the operations of the NATO Secretary General, focused on the role of training the deployment of forces as a vital component to increase the Alliance's readiness.

General Perretti, commander of the NRDC-ITA, emphasized the work carried out by the Command in order to maintain a high level of preparation and readiness, underlining how the recent "Eagle Overland 18" exercise, first and only in its kind, he was a probative test to verify the capacity for rapid intervention and deployment in a hypothetical crisis area.
For its part, the Army Chief of Staff, General Farina, who spoke on the first day of work, underlined the importance and the centrality of the Organization in the current international scenario, emphasizing the need to have a modern, flexible and effective terrestrial instrument.
