The 6 ° training course for aspiring JTAC (Joint Terminal Attack Controller) operators aimed at personnel coming from the Italian Army units and carried out, since the first week of April, at the center has ended. Fires Targeting & Info OPS of the Armed Forces.

The activity, characterized by theoretical lessons and practical exercises inherent to the fundamental aspects of the management of terrestrial and aerial fire support and the main aerocooperation procedures in force within NATO in the specific sector, was carried out through the use of training facilities and didactics present at the Artillery Command.

In particular, the students were able to implement the procedures for managing fire, air and land, to support the maneuvering units through the use of the VBS 3 (Virtual Battle Space) simulation system. that is able to replicate, with high realism, the procedures and settings of the modern Operating Theaters in which the aspiring JTAC will find themselves operating following the attainment of the qualification.

The 4 soldiers who have passed this first intense and extremely selective training phase will be admitted to attend further training phases in order to reach the required standard necessary for the subsequent attendance of the qualification course for Joint Terminal Attack Controller. This qualification will make it possible to have highly trained operators in modern operational scenarios able to manage different sources of fire, maximizing their effects and at the same time reducing the risk of collateral damage. Furthermore, the JTAC, thanks to the use of modern radio instruments and sensors, has the task of providing updates on the tactical situation connected with its unit.
