The Army remembers the victims of Kabul

In recent days, the commemorative ceremony was held in Tramutola (PZ) on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the attack in Kabul in Afghanistan in which the 17 September 2009 lost the lives of six paratroopers of the "Folgore" brigade, including Captain Antonio Fortunato native of Tramutola and belonging to the 186 regiment parachutists. The event began with a tribute to the Fortunato family of a Tricolor which was followed by the celebration of the Holy Mass and the interventions of the mayor of Tramutola, Francesco Carile, of the prefect of Potenza, dott. Colonel Lucio Di Biasio, commander of the "Basilicata" Army Military Command, addressing Captain Fortunato's family and recalling the others who died that day, underlined how their memory and their history of soldiers of our Army, who followed the their own vocation and united by a difficult mission of peace in which they sacrificed the supreme good of life in the name of freedom and democracy, is a constant example for all citizens.

The commemoration continued in the town square named after Captain Fortunato, who received the Honorable Memorial Cross. After the surrender of military honors by the Army Military Command "Basilicata" and the deposition of a laurel wreath at the war memorial in Afghanistan, Colonel Di Biasio thanked the Municipal Administration of Tramutola for the sensitivity shown, and all the defendants including a representative of the "Folgore" brigade and the Combattentistiche and d'Arma Associations which, with their presence, conferred greater solemnity to the event.
