Yesterday the army blasters proceeded to disengage and the subsequent blasting of three bombs, equipped with unconventional devices and weighing 100 kg each. The activities were conducted by specialists from the 6 Genio Regiment of Rome and in coordination with the prefecture of Perugia.

The three bombs, found during excavation work at the hamlet of Bocca Trabaria di San Giustino, are the first war remnants found in Italy that present unconventional activation mechanisms within them.

The operations started at 09: 30 with the complete evacuation of the area in order to allow the blasters to remove the quills, using a robot with remote control. Subsequently the three bombs were loaded on military vehicles for transport in a quarry located near the municipality of Manziana, where they were made to shine at 16: 30.

The operation, which differs from the previous ones due to the presence inside the bombs of unconventional devices, has been possible thanks to the training and the continuous updating of the Army bomb makers, which thanks to their dual capacity, are able to operate at home and abroad.

Since the beginning of the year, the Army blasters have removed and destroyed over 800 explosive devices, found throughout Italy, while last year more than 2.100 remnants of war have been reclaimed.
