The 82nd "Turin" Infantry Regiment commemorated the 76th anniversary of the Tscherkowo military events that took place on the Russian front on January 16, 1943. In Russia, the unit of the Italian Army gave proof of its extraordinary capabilities and value of their men for which the Gold Medal for Military Valor was awarded.

The ceremony began with the deposition at the War Memorial of the laurel wreath by the commander of the regiment, Colonel Antonio Morganella. The ceremony continued with the rendering of the honors to the flag of the regiment and the reading of the motivation of the Gold Medal for Military Valor, with the department deployed in arms on the flag-raising square.

The commander recalled the heroic events first with the Expeditionary Corps and then with the Italian Army in Russia. Today as then, the Fanti del Torino, employed on various fronts in Italy and abroad, inspired and guided by the example of their predecessors, as well as by the values ​​of the Italian Army, operate with the same enthusiasm, passion and dedication for the fulfillment of their duty, according to the regiment's motto: "I believe and I win". The ceremony, which took place in the "R. Stella" barracks in Barletta, current seat of the 82nd "Turin" infantry regiment, was attended by military and civil authorities, the Combat and Weapon Associations and a delegation of former "Infantry" del Torino "on leave, coming from all over the national territory.
