The Sassari brigade, in the last period, has seen its departments intensify training. In particular, the Macomer 5th Engineer Regiment, whose personnel has just returned from employment in various international operations, has in fact implemented specific training for the Engineers' Weapon. The unit, which is responsible for providing support at home to the civilian population in the event of public calamities, as well as for the reclamation of military devices throughout the region, in the last week employed about 300 men and women in training. framework of ongoing exercises.
In particular, in Bosa Marina, the sappers of the 5th Engineer Regiment conducted, for the first time, a joint amphibious activity with the infantry of the 152nd Regiment. The sappers have made available the inflatable boats and the navigation skills on river waters, operating in the city of Bosa. During the exercise, two advanced exploration teams of the genius carried out a reconnaissance of the navigable stretch of the Temo river, from the mouth to the Ponte Vecchio, in which the infantry of the 152 ° were able to conduct the amphibious training of the platoon explorers, sailing in inland waters and then proceeding to a simulated operational landing on an enemy shore.
At the same time, thanks to the experience gained during the floods that took place in Sardinia in recent years, the genius regiment continued its training using earth moving machines and special equipment for the removal of trees and debris. The sappers then simulated the reclamation of flooded areas due to flooding of watercourses. These capacities, typical of the genius regiment, allow us to express the dual-use function of the Italian Army when they are used for the population.
