At the Sempione Park in Milan, behind the Sforzesco Castle, the Cittadella degli Alpini 2019 was inaugurated yesterday, presented this year with an innovative formula: the joint presence of the Alpini in service and the volunteers of the Civil Protection of the ANA, will in fact allow to know how the “dual use” vocation of the Italian Army is effectively combined with the structures of volunteering at the service of the community.
The ceremony was attended by the president of the National Alpine Association, Sebastiano Favero, the commander of the Alpine troops, the general of the army corps Claudio Berto, the deputy mayor Anna Scavuzzo and numerous other political and military authorities.
"This Citadel is the concrete testimony of what we can do for the community: these young boys will be able to tell you stories of distant places in which they were employed, but also their daily service to the country within national borders alongside the Civil Protection of the 'ANA, synergy that demonstrates the passion that unites those who on duty and on leave have worn the Pen ". This is the message of General Berto who highlighted how the Alpine Troops of the Italian Army manage to interact effectively with the Civil Protection systems of the National Alpine Association which, through its president Favero, highlighted: "We believe in the country system and in what we can do in the service of the population, bearing witness to the solidity of Alpine values with our presence".
Over twenty-five thousand people visited the Citadel which, in an exhibition space of 24.000 square meters, offers over 40 exhibition stands where about three hundred Alpine troops, on duty and on leave, will show the vehicles supplied to the units of the military engineers, for natural disasters and for the reclamation of war remnants alongside those of the Forest Fire and Civil Protection Divers, the Campo Hospital and the military mountain rescue teams and the Civil Protection drones.
The assets of the National Alpine Association are confirmed to be effective together with the ability to operate in a dual manner by the Italian Army, by vocation and ideals, placing itself at the service of the country as a natural multiplier of effectiveness, by virtue of the simple consideration that, if status can change between active and retired military personnel, but in the Alpine language "once you wear a hat you are alpine forever".
The ANA Piemontesi Sections groups will parade on 12 on Sunday at 14.20 for the center of Milan.
