Yesterday, at the "Oreste Salomone" Barracks headquarters of the 17th Volunteer Training Regiment (RAV) "Acqui", the volunteers on a fixed-term basis of one year (VFP-1) of the third block 2018 met Doctor Franco Michele, president of the Bone Marrow Donors Association (ADMO) Campania, with the aim of raising awareness among young people about the voluntary donation of bone marrow to combat many blood diseases such as leukemia, lymphomas and myelomas.

Faced with a large audience of young soldiers, Dr. Franco explained how to register with the Association and how the donation occurs if a person on 100.000 is compatible with those waiting for a bone marrow transplant. "You will be called to give another hope of life to those who are waiting to receive it", underlined Dr. Franco, addressing the new Italian Army volunteers.

The colonel Giuseppe Zizzari, commander of the 17 ° RAV, thanking the ADMO Campania for having met and informed such a large audience of staff, wanted to empower the young soldiers in a "conscious choice" that could, in the future, turn into a gesture extraordinary generosity for the protection of the good of the community and of the country.

The charity initiative, now customary for the 17 ° RAV, shows how the staff of the Italian Army, as well as soldiers engaged in institutional activities, are selfless and sensitive citizens in helping those in need of care. At the end of the informational conference, 170 samples of saliva were collected from which to derive the donor profile and enter the Italian Register of Bone Marrow Donors.
