The 1st Sardinian Grenadiers Regiment conducted a series of training activities aimed at achieving full combat capability to be able to conduct all operations on the spectrum of conflicts, from military activities in peacetime to warfighting.

The Army soldiers in San Candido were guests of the "Bassano" Alpine battalion, under the guidance of the instructors of the 6th Alpine Regiment and trained in the technical procedures - tactics typical of the mountain environment, off-road driving on mixed terrain and in the presence of snow and ice, the ability to move and operate in the woods and in urbanized areas and department walking at high altitude with gradual differences in height and loads.

These are some of the activities that have represented the daily commitment of the companies that have alternated in Val Pusteria as part of an intense and demanding training cycle.

The 1st Sardinian Grenadiers Regiment is a light infantry regiment, employed both in the various theaters of operation, Kosovo, Afghanistan and Lebanon, and in homeland security operations. The operational role is combined with the ceremonial one ensuring the performance of high representative services including pickets in honor of the Heads of State and Government visiting the Italian constitutional bodies, commemoration ceremonies, deposition of crowns, the honor guard at the Palace del Quirinale, the Senate of the Republic, the Chamber of Deputies and the Sacello del Milite Ignoto at the Altare della Patria.
Furthermore, the contribution of grenadiers since the early hours in the central Italy areas affected by the 2016 earthquake, in first aid activities in support of the local population, was important.
