Preparation and technological innovation are a fundamental combination for those who are committed every day, at home and abroad, for the good of the country and its citizens.

This was reiterated by the Minister of Defense, Elisabetta Trenta, yesterday morning at the end of the SIO 2018, the exercise that took place at the military polygon of Monte Romano carried out by the "Aosta" brigade with the use of specialized Army assets, which it saw the participation of around 1200 men and women from 25 departments.

Activities which were also attended by the Chief of Defense Staff, General Enzo Vecciarelli, the Chief of Staff of the Army, Corps general, Salvatore Farina, and the commander of the "Aosta" brigade, Brigadier General Bruno Pisciotta.

The head of the Dicastery focused on the importance of the exercise aimed at "testing sophisticated command and control systems, tactical means and individual equipment with a high technological connotation, acquired as part of the future soldier program".

In addition to testifying the level of preparation, professionalism and ability reached by the military, today's exercise also highlighted the union between the Armed Forces and the Defense Industry through the experimentation of weapon systems and equipment with a high technological index.

A valuable contribution thanks to which, said the minister, "Italy will be able to confirm that level of prestige and international visibility that it has managed to carve out by demonstrating that it is up to expectations and can adapt to the new and increasingly uncertain reference scenarios".

The objective of the exercise was to implement the ability to operate in a fully digitalized and inter-force way, using the command and control systems, tactical means and individual equipment, acquired in the “Future Soldier” program.

The increase of these innovative individual systems, fully integrated with each other, has led to the creation of a "soldier system" based on the synergy between man and equipment, suitable for carrying out the tasks in line with the profound changes that have taken place in the international scenario, with a view to of a dual context of use.
