The Army Aviation for two weeks now takes the field with the CAEX II 2018 Exercise (Complex Aviation Exercise). After an initial planning phase, in order to consolidate mutual knowledge, the Specialty departments are ready to start the second practical phase of joint training.
The purpose of the exercise is to plan, organize and conduct a complex exercise that includes training activities aimed at maintaining and implementing operational capabilities, as well as ensuring the usability and inter-operability of the Task Group level aircraft (TG) in order to amalgamate the personnel of the different units and to develop the capacity to manage crisis situations.
Pilot organization of this exercise is the Army Aviation Command, under the guidance of Brigadier General Paolo Riccò, but the departments involved are numerous: Army Aviation Training Center, Army Aviation Support Command, Aircraft Brigade Command "Friuli" , "Celio" Military Clinic, Veterinary Military Center, 1 ° Aviation Regiment of the Army "Antares", 2 ° Aviation Regiment of the Army "Sirio", 3 ° Regiment Helicopters for Special Operations "Aldebaran", 4 ° Aviation Regiment of the Army "Altair", 5 ° Aviation Regiment of the Army "Rigel", 7 ° Aviation Regiment of the Army "Vega", 4 ° Regiment of Support "Scorpio", 66 ° Aircraft Infantry Regiment "Trieste", 186 ° Regiment Paratroopers " Folgore ", 41 °" Cordenons "Regiment, 11 ° Transmission Regiment and Military Navy Eliassalto Department.
Two weeks of intense training therefore; the first, aimed at achieving the right level of integration of the various elements, aims to best combine the specific skills of each task counter; the second, a real warfighting training, where the structures exercised will have to carry out a complex aircraft operation.
CAEX, by combining different types of exercises, offers the opportunity to increase the training level of all Units exercised, thanks to the possibility of being used in complex operations with aircraft and different tasks used simultaneously.
The training area covers a total of 2 regions, Lazio and Sardinia. The bases used are the "Fabbri" Airport in Viterbo and the Decimomannu military airport in Cagliari.
The CAEX II 2018 will end the 27 October.
