Yesterday the first training phase of the CAEX II 2018 exercise ended yesterday. Three goals of this first week: amalgamate the staff of the different units, acquire the perfect automation in the application of procedures and develop in the conduct the ability to manage crisis situations through the injection (surprise activations) that, by changing the operating context, they foresee a timely re-planning to respond effectively to the new scenario.
In particular, already in the late evening of Monday 15 October, the task force "Angel" was assigned a mission that provided for the contrast of the logistic supply of weapons and ammunition of two enemy cells located in the areas of Capalbio and Monteromano.
Once the mission is planned, the three Task Groups, framed within the Task Force, have employed CH-47, A129, UH-90 and UH-205A assets.
Two tactical acts, day and night, carried out on the day of the 16 October which involved the use of two platoons of paratroopers of the 186 regiment "Folgore" and a platoon of aircraft infantry of the 66 ° regiment "Trieste". During the assault action of the paratroopers, the wounding of one of the platoon's components was simulated. It was therefore necessary to implement the procedures for the recovery of the injured through the Advanced Medical Evacuation Team (MEDEVAC), promptly arrived at the site of the injury on a UH-205 helicopter. At the end of the assault, the paratroopers found a load of weapons and ammunition trapped with explosives. To manage the event, the K9 set-up (binomio uomo cane) and the IEDD team for the explosive remediation were carried out, transported by two UH-90 helicopters and escorted by two A-129 helicopters.
At the same time, even the tactical act of fire assault, conducted by the aircraft infantry platoon, was severely tested due to the capture of two platoon units. The two captured soldiers managed to escape by activating the procedures for the Personell Recovery (recovery of personnel remained isolated).
At the same time another CH-47, carrying the second platoon of infantry parachutists, was activated to counteract the hostile action of a moving target, promptly neutralized.
In the nocturnal arc, following the reconfiguration of the enemy cells, the second tactical act envisaged another complex offensive action that ended with the defeat of the insurgent.
The constant training commitment is therefore the common thread that, since the early days, is characterizing this exercise with the aim of making the complex operations that revolve around the reality of Army Aviation more and more performing.
Once this phase is over, the training departments will reach Sardinia for the part's conduct over the weekend Real Life who will see them employed in the area of Capo Teulada.
