On the day of the 17 in May, the livex exercises “Scorpio and Sagittarius 2 / 2019” were closed at the Tactical Training Centers (CAT) of Monte Romano and Cesano di Roma respectively.
The first saw friendly units (BLUFOR) of the Savoy Cavalry Regiment (3 °) being compared to enemy units (OPFOR) of the 1 "Granatieri di Sardegna" battalion. During the exercise, aimed at preparing units of future employment, the Savoy Cavalry Regiment (3 °) conducted a series of preparatory activities for the operational tasks that could support such as, reconnaissance patrol, planning and conduct of stock convoys and immediate automatic reactions.
The purpose of the "livex" exercises is to allow trained units to operate in real environments using the individual weapons, vehicles and weapon systems supplied. The activity, conducted in two distinct moments, sees a preparation phase comprising the study of the scenario and the training objectives, during which field detection sensors and mobile devices for the control and evaluation of the exercise were deployed. .
On the same day of the 17 May, at the CAT of Cesano di Roma, the livex "Sagittarius 2 / 2019" ended. The exercise, also aimed at setting up units to be used in Operational Theaters, saw a BLUFOR unit of the 186 ° Paratrooper Regiment and OPFOR unit of the 2 ° Cengio Battalion.
During the training days, the 186 ° Paratroopers Regiment was engaged in multiple exercises such as planning and conducting an attack in the town center, securing a building and managing communications.
