In the evocative setting of the Cortile d'Onore of the historical "D.Picca" barracks, the ceremony of rotation of the Army territorial commander in Puglia took place.
In the presence of the deputy commander for the Territory of the Command of the Southern Operative Forces, general of division, Gualtiero Mario De Cicco, the brigadier general Mauro Prezioso - who will hold positions at the top organs of the Armed Forces - has surrendered the command to the Brigadier General Giorgio Rainò, from the Italian Embassy in Pakistan.
During the farewell speech General Prezioso highlighted how the Military Command "Puglia" (CME "PUGLIA), during the three years of his stay, has tried to be among the people, in the territory and alongside the local institutions, in order to create synergies and make known the realities of the Armed Force. To confirm this activity, more than 100 initiatives carried out in the territory, in schools, in museums, in the squares, in order to promote the culture of Defense and to seal the indissoluble relationship between the Army, the institutions and society.
The General Prezioso in thanking the present authorities, and in particular the Mayors, once again wanted to greet his men and women expressing all the pride of having been their commander.
At the ceremony there were numerous authorities who wanted to demonstrate, in such a solemn moment, a warm and heartfelt closeness to the CME "Puglia".
The incoming commander, Brigadier General Giorgio Rainò, originally from Salento, attended the 166 ° course "Dignity" of the Military Academy, the 3 ° ISSMI course at the Center for Defense Studies and has a long experience gained in his homeland and in abroad, in operational, managerial and diplomatic positions. He graduated in Strategic Sciences and in International and Diplomatic Sciences and attained Masters in Strategic International Military Studies, Strategic Sciences and Peace Bulding Management.
