The Army Logistic commander, general of corps Francesco Paolo Figliuolo, attended yesterday in Grosseto at the ceremony commemorating the 158 anniversary of the Army Veterinary Service, which formed the 27 June 1861 when, in the aftermath of the Unit of Italy, all the military veterinarians of the various pre-unification armies were brought together under one command.

At the ceremony, held in the "MOVM Tenente Villi Pasquali" barracks, headquarters of the Veterinary Military Center, in the presence of the Banner of the city and province of Grosseto and the military, civil and religious authorities of the city, the head of the veterinary department of the logistic command also intervened of the Army, Colonel Giovanni Rucco.

During the event, which began with the laying of a laurel wreath at the War Memorial, the Army logistic commander pointed out how the work of the Veterinary Service is fundamental, from a health and hygiene standpoint, for Armed Forces logistics, at home and abroad.

The event was attended by many students attending the 37 Military Campus of veterinary studies from all the departments of Veterinary Medicine in Italy.

Today's ceremony marks the end of two intense weeks spent by the students at the Veterinary Military Center, characterized by training events that have enriched their cultural and experiential background in a military context. The didactic formula used included the alternation of theoretical and practical activities, by university professors and veterinary officers working in fields of excellence, such as the clinic, surgery, gynecology and feeding of dogs and horses, to testify the synergies existing between the military veterinary and the academic veterinary.

Il Veterinary Military Center is responsible for the definition, coordination and control of measures aimed at guaranteeing the protection of animal health in all contexts of use.

Therefore, it is an articulated reality that unites specialist components such as the Canine Group, which forms the "dog-conductor" pairs employed in operational contexts in Italy and abroad, the breeding and training components of the horse and the Veterinary Infirmary, to support of clinical, diagnostic and surgical activities of the aforementioned animals.

As part of the event, a scientific seminar was held, organized by the ECOPNEUS company, with which CEMIVET works synergistically and which has made it possible to have premises in which the impact on animal health and well-being can be better evaluated. to the use of recycled rubber from end-of-life tires (PFU), also through scientific assessments carried out in cooperation with the Veterinary Department of the University of Perugia.
