It seems that Napoleon I was not very satisfied with the performance and professionalism of the so-called "Guarde-pompes", a civil body created in 1716, so in 1810, following the fire of the Austrian Embassy (1 ° July 1810), which caused the death of a hundred people (opening image), decided to create a new organization this time military, under the orders of the prefect of Paris.

The unit, born 18 September 1811, completes 208 years.

The Sapeur-Pompier Brigade of Paris (BSPP) is today a unit of the military genius of the French Army.

The last major intervention is related to the tragic fire of Notre Dame de Paris of the 15 April 2019 which saw the brigade employed relentlessly to tame the flames and ensure the safety of the site and of the people.
