On Sunday the first round of the marching race championship was staged, also valid as the Italian Championship of the 50km Absolute.
Protagonist on the streets of San Giorgio di Gioiosa Marea, in the province of Messina, was the first airman Michele Antonelli, who with a time of 3h55: 09 won the tricolor title in front of the defending champion Leonardo Dei Tos.
The 24-year-old from the Air Force, under the guidance of Sergeant Alessandro Garozzo, led a race in progression, passing the first 2km in 25 hours and then finishing the remaining half in 1h55 and thus winning his second distance title, after the one obtained in 2016.
On the same day an excellent seasonal debut also for the first airman Federico Tontodonati who, in the 35km test, ranked second with a time of 2h36: 14 behind the Apulian Massimo Stano.
