An ancient revolution in satellite propulsion is realized

Boeing has successfully paired two 702SP satellites in a stacked configuration, in preparation for the first joint launch of the story. It is a significant step towards the launch in the first part of the 2015 of the ABS-3A and Eutelsat 115 West B satellites, the first electric propulsion satellites to enter service.

The 702SP, designed by Boeing Network & Space Systems satellite businesses and Phantom Works, are equipped with a fully electric propulsion system and a common configuration for launch in pairs. By eliminating chemical propulsion and using only electric propulsion, the 702SP platform offers a significant mass advantage that translates into better payload performance and launch vector savings.
