Protocol between the Carabinieri and the Vatican Gendarmerie

This afternoon at the general command of the Carabinieri, the commander general Tullio Del Sette and the commander of the Vatican Gendarmerie Domenico Giani signed a technical cooperation agreement aimed at increasing common initiatives in the training, educational and cultural fields.

Close for history, traditions, organization and attributions (the Corps of Pontifical Carabinieri was formed by Pope Pius VII in the 1816), the Arma dei Carabinieri and the Vatican Gendarmerie, in the wake of a consolidated collaboration relationship, will increase synergies in staff training, with particular reference to the issues of security and the fight against terrorism, through the exchange of experiences and joint training.

To this end, the ARMA will use its own schools and departments with specific skills such asHigher Institute of Investigative Techniques, Shooting Specialization School, Special Operations Group (ROS), not least the Grouping Carabinieri Scientific Investigations (Ra.CIS) for the development and application of investigative and forensic sciences.  

Also in the area of ​​selection and recruitment there will be a close cooperation between the two Police Forces through the study of the respective procedures and the evaluation of the effectiveness of the methods applied.

Cultural and promotional events will also be organized together with the two prestigious bands, to promote artistic and cultural exchange.
