Support for the allies from whom Italy is asking, in turn, for support, as Minister Trenta underlined on the sidelines of the visit to the Contingent: "This contingent testifies Italy's solidarity with its NATO allies, our attention to their concerns. And it is precisely this solidarity that has led us, in the last summits, to ask the Alliance to pay more attention to the South, in the Mediterranean, a strategic area for Italy where risks of different nature are concentrated, first and foremost the traffic of human beings towards our shores".

Previously, the minister had met with his Latvian colleague, Raimond Bergmanis. Colloquium during which he confirmed the national commitment as a concrete signal of solidarity towards the Member States towards the Allies on the eastern flank.

On Monday, in Warsaw, the bilateral meeting with the Minister of National Defense of the Republic of Poland, Mariusz Błaszczak, was instead an opportunity to analyze issues of common interest such as NATO, the European Union (PESCO), immigration and theaters of crisis.
