Operation Atalanta, Margottini ship in joint training in the Indian Ocean

The frigate Carlo Margottini, currently located in the horn of Africa which flagship operation Atalanta, has carried out a day of exercises in the waters of the Indian Ocean with the two Spanish units in transit in the area.

The unit has been involved in the execution of simple and complex kinematic maneuvers and in the training of the staff of the San Marco brigade to release from helicopter to half beard. At the same time a complex air defense exercise was carried out, the realism of which was increased by the participation of the AV-8B + fighter-bombers of the Juan Carlos I.

A short but intense training, which allowed the crews of the units involved to compete in a multinational context, which favored the increase of the interoperability of the participating units and the strengthening of cooperation between the two countries.

Ship Margottini, has been operating under the flag of the European Union in the waters of the Horn of Africa for over three months to ensure and contribute to activities to combat the phenomenon of piracy and guarantee the freedom of navigation and the safety of merchant traffic in the area of ​​interest, as well as the protection of ships of the World Food Program.
