Nave Zeffiro ends the stop in Beirut and resumes surveillance activity in the Eastern Mediterranean

Yesterday the frigate Zephyr of the Navy, at the end of a four-day technical stop, left the port of Beirut, in Lebanon, and resumed patrolling activities in the Eastern Mediterranean, to carry out activities of presence, surveillance of maritime spaces, protection of interests national borders, countering maritime terrorism and supporting the NATO operation Sea Guardian.

The stop in Beirut, which helped to confirm the good relations with the Institutions and the Armed Forces of the Cedar Country, was characterized by the visit on board of the Italian ambassador to Lebanon, lawyer Massimo Marotti, and by the reciprocal visits between the crew of Nave Zeffiro and a representative of Lebanese officers and sailors, who exchanged technical and operational information with each other in view of future activities of capacity building.

The frigate Zephyr, which inter alia maintains maritime operational coordination with the commitment deriving from the Operation Safe Sea in the Central Mediterranean, it is commanded by the frigate captain Marcello Epicoco and has a crew of about 190 men and women, including a security team from the Marina San Marco Brigade and pilots and specialists in the air components of the Navy.
