Italy trains the first C-IED investigating officers of the Iraqi police

Baghdad - Instructors of the genius of the Italian Army, have concluded the first one Improvised Explosive Device Response Commander's Course (IED RCC) in favor of the Iraqi police.

The course was held as part of the training offer of the Police Task Force-Iraq and, for the first time, at the Iraqi Police Academy and aimed at providing the basics to an audience of officers who, in the future, will be able to correctly manage the qualified personnel Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) deepening the didactic procedures on the basis of the "train the trainers" principle.

During the course, topics related to the role of the EOD officer during the management of an IED event, the management of the evacuation and safety of the area in question, the protection of human lives, notions on the collection of samples and residues were discussed. and, finally, the management of the return to normal after the event.

This training fits into the context of the many courses provided to the Iraqi security forces, activities necessary for the formation of modern institutions indispensable for consolidating the stabilization and normalization process of the country.

Italy contributes to the "Inherent Resolve" operation, with tasks to combat international terrorism, in the training of the Iraqi and Kurdish security forces (Peshmerga) as well as ensuring the safety of the structure of the Mosul dam to avert the risk of a environmental catastrophe.
