Lebanon: CBRN defense training course completed

It ended at the Italian-led UNIFIL West Sector command on a parachute brigade base thunderbolt, the course for the defense against attacks conducted with Chemical, Biological, Radioactive and Nuclear (CBRN) agents in favor of 10 units of the Lebanese armed forces.

The course, developed by the staff of the 7th NBC “Cremona” Defense Regiment, framed within the Combat Support Battalion of the West Sector Command of UNIFIL, has been articulated on practical theoretical lessons aimed at illustrating techniques for the detection and defense against attacks conducted with chemical, biological or radioactive agents.

The tasks of the 7 ° Nuclear and Chemical Nuclear Defense Regiment (NBC)

The 7th NBC regiment is based in Civitavecchia and, the only one in Italy, has the task of providing defense against CBRN dangers, guarantees the safety of the personnel of the Italian contingent through chemical and radiological checks throughout the area of ​​responsibility, chemical analyzes on foodstuffs, radiological monitoring on the routes traveled by Italian patrols and on materials in transit to and from the motherland.

Joint exercises and synergy for the stabilization of the entire area

The joint training between i peacekeepers Italians and the Lebanese armed forces, in addition to representing a fundamental aspect in order to operate at maximum capacity and in safety, remains one of the most important elements of the UNIFIL mission to continue to guarantee the stability of the area.
