Kosovo: Italian soldiers supply medicines to local health facilities

The Italian contingent of the Multinational Battle Group West (MNBG-W), engaged in the mission in Kosovo, recently concluded a series of donations of drugs, supplied by the Italian non-profit organization "Perigeo" in favor of local hospital pharmacies.

The Civil-Military Cooperation (CI.MI.C.) has developed this project in favor of vulnerable populations, delivering over 13.000 packages of generic medicines to the pharmacies of the hospitals of Gjakova / Dakovica, Gorazdevac, Peje / Pec, Prizren and Istock who have not yet achieved full autonomy in supporting the need for drugs needed to complete patients' medical care.

The project was realized thanks to an effective coordination action between the Non-Governmental Organization, donor of the medicines, the Operational Command of Summit Joint Forces (COI) of the Defense Staff, organizer of air transport in Kosovo and the Multinational Battle Group Westche handed over the drugs to Kosovo's health authorities.

The MNBG-W, under the command of Colonel Ettore Gagliardi, continues its action to support the health sector, together with the educational one as a basis for the development of Kosovar society.

The MNBG-W, under Italian leadership on the 185th "Folgore" parachute artillery regiment, is composed of Italian Slovenian, Austrian and Moldovan units as established by United Nations resolution 1244 and ensures the freedom of movement of Kosovo citizens, guaranteeing a safe and protected environment respecting the pluralism of ethnic groups and religious confessions present in the Balkan territory.
