In the presence of the KFOR commander, Major General Salvatore Cuoci, the exercise ended in recent days Silver Saber 2018 - 1, one of the most complex and important training activities organized and conducted by KFOR to test and increase the intervention capacity of the Kosovo security system in emergency situations.

Held between the bases of Camp Film City, Camp Pomozatin and the military airport of Slatina, it saw KFOR operate in full synergy with all the security organizations present in Kosovo: European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX), Kosovo Police (KP), Kosovo Security Forces (KSF), the Kosovo Emergency Management Agency (EMA) and the Kosovo Security Council (KSC).

The "Silver Saber 2018 - 1" was conducted in two phases: the first dedicated to the training of the commanders of the various units and the respective staff to test the command, control and coordination skills in order to implement the interoperability based on the different levels of employment; the second one, which took place today, on the ground, saw the intervention of the operative units that were able to apply the coordination procedures in response to the different activations, from crowd control to re-establish public order, to interventions for public utility. .

The management of emergencies took place by testing the entire security system of the region, starting from the municipality up to the Central Government of Kosovo, and then it was possible to test the capacity for intervention and management of emergencies by all the organizations and institutions, each one in compliance with their mandate and with their institutional duties.

The commander of the KFOR, General Cuoci, in his speech to the personnel at the end of the exercise, spoke about the purpose and operational objectives of Silver Saber as a core activity of KFOR. "The objective of NATO and KFOR is to implement the skills and competences of Security Organizations and Institutions in Kosovo in the management of natural disasters and other types of emergencies and KFOR remains committed to ensuring its support until the mission will not be accomplished ".

Not surprisingly, "Enduring Commitment" is the motto that General Cuoci has chosen as the 22nd commander of KFOR, reflecting the constant commitment to pursuing the objectives established for the NATO mission in Kosovo.
