The general commander of the Carabinieri, gen. ca Giovanni Nistri, went on an official visit to Baghdad to meet the carabinieri who work in the mission First Parthica, with different functions: from those of escort, protection and security for the local Italian embassy to those of capacitive development in favor of local police forces in the training centers of the Iraqi capital, Erbil and Taqaddum.

The carabinieri deployed in the mission in Iraq constitute a true cross-section of the weapon in which all the branches of the institution are represented: central, territorial, training, mobile and specialist.

At the Italian embassy in Baghdad, in the presence of Ambassador Bruno Antonio Pasquino, General Nistri greeted the staff employed in that diplomatic seat with escort, protection and security duties, as well as that of Police Task Force and the Staff located in the neighboring coalition base called "Union III". The visit then continued at the base of "Camp Dublin", where General Nistri met the Carabinieri of the Training Unit of Baghdad employed in the training activity in favor of the Iraqi police, as well as the exponents of the police forces of Sweden, the Czech Republic, Finland and Canada who operate within that unit.

In all the locations visited, General Nistri thanked the Carabinieri for the high level of commitment and professionalism shown in their respective areas of work, for the effectiveness and the goodness of the results achieved unanimously recognized, long entertaining with them and formulating the wishes for the end of year holidays.

Later, the commanding general met with Iraqi Deputy Interior Minister, Dr. Aqeel al-Khazali, as well as the representatives of the international community, in particular gen. ca (US Army) Paul J. LaCamera, commander of the Combined Joint Task Force, the gen. d. (CAN Army) Dany Fortin, commander of the NATO Mission in Iraq, gen. b. (GER Pol) Markus Ritter, commander of the European Union Advisory Mission in Iraq, ms. Jeannette Seppen, NATO civilian representative in Iraq, as well as numerous diplomatic representatives from local embassies.

All the authorities met expressed unanimous appreciation for the work carried out by the carabinieri in Iraq.
