The Italian Army instructors have successfully concluded the Squad Leader Skills Development Course (SLSDC) in favor of the Iraqi Security Forces of the Kurdistan Autonomous Region.

The course is part of a training cycle - already started in April 2017 - which aims to train future instructors of the Kurdish Security Forces (KSF) units on how to plan and conduct team-level activities on specific topics. The conclusion of these two training sessions, in the Bneslava and Suleymaniah offices, is added to the previous eight sessions which see a total of well-232 squad trained KSF leaders from Italian soldiers.

In particular, the course - lasting 6 weeks - involves the development of four subjects, each for each class, which are: infantry tactics, individual precision shooting training, first aid techniques, behaviors to be adopted in the presence of substances explosives (Counter Improvised Explosive Device - C-IED).

In the first three weeks the students specialize on one of the four subjects covered by the course and in the remaining three weeks they train on the teaching techniques and on the conduct of the theoretical-practical lessons of the single subject learned.

The task of the new instructors will be to maintain the training level of the KSF units, formed so far by the coalition, based on the principle "train the trainers - train the trainers".

Great satisfaction was shown by the instructors of the Kurdish Training Coordination Center (KTCC) for the results achieved and the performance provided by the students during practical activities.

The KTCC, founded in September 2014 to defeat international terrorism and the Daesh, is composed of over 350 military from 8 European nations belonging to the "Global coalition" including Italy, Germany, Holland, Finland, Sweden, Great Britain, Hungary and Slovenia. Italy, contributing with about 110 instructors of the Italian Army, is the major contributor and, on shift with Germany, provides the Commander of the Center for the coordination of multinational training in Iraqi Kurdistan.

The staff trained by the KTCC took part in the fights against the self-styled Islamic State and continues to guarantee the security of the areas liberated by ISIS, testifying the national effort made - and still ongoing - for the defeat of Daesh and international terrorism and for the stabilization and normalization of the country.
