Iraq: concluded C-IED training

The Italian military of the operation First Parthica, have successfully concluded the 6 ° course Counter Improvised Explosive Device in favor of the Iraqi security forces of the Autonomous Region of Kurdistan.

The course organized in collaboration with the military of the other eight nations that make up the Kurdistan Training Coordination Center (KTCC) lasted 5 weeks in favor of the 1 ° Support Forces Command and was aimed at implementing the capabilities of Kurdish Security Forces against the IED threat.

In particular, the instructors of the Italian Army completed training for 19 soldiers (non-commissioned officers and soldiers) in the identification, recognition, disarticulation and clearance of improvised explosive devices. The course is divided into two main phases: a first common initial phase, during which the components of improvised improvised devices, their operation and classification, as well as the basic notions on the ability to search, identify and signal IEDs were explained; a second phase in which the participants were specialized in the research and reporting of IEDs (course Detect) and in the techniques of disarticulation and rapid remediation of the IED themselves (course Defeat).

The military leaders of the Security Forces of the Autonomous Region of Iraqi Kurdistan, during the ceremony of delivery of certificates of participation, have had words of appreciation for the work carried out by specialists of the Italian Army's genius, while recognizing the importance of to deepen this typology of topic, hoping for the continuation of courses with a high technical content.

The KTCC is composed of over 350 military from 8 European nations, including Italy, Germany, Holland, Finland, Sweden, Great Britain, Hungary and Slovenia, part of the "Global coalition", created in September 2014, to defeat terrorism international and DAESH. Italy contributing with about 110 instructors of the Italian Army is the major contributor and, on shift with Germany, provides the commander of the coordination center for multinational training in Iraqi Kurdistan.
The staff trained by the KTCC took part in the fighting against the so-called Islamic State and continues to guarantee the security of the areas now liberated by ISIS, witnessing the national effort made - and still ongoing - for the defeat of DAESH and international terrorism.
