The Salerno Guide regiment involved in the UNIFIL mission

In recent days, the Italian-led Maneuvering Task Force (ITALBATT), based on the "Guide" cavalry regiment (19th) and employed by the Joint Task Force Lebanon (JTF-L) - Sector West (SW), provided assistance to the local population, which insists in its area of ​​responsibility, through some CIMIC projects.

In particular, garments were donated to the "Beit El Maraa El Janubi" Woman Association of Tire, a voluntary association of women operating in the social sphere in southern Lebanon. In this context, Colonel Giacomo Giannattasio, commander of ITALBATT, thanked the director of the Association, Rafah Shahade Kassir, and the associated women for the precious commitment that they carry out with many sacrifices, for over 30 years, in direct support to the Lebanese community through childcare, poor parents and scholarships. "This support, shared between the work of the Association and that of Italian blue helmets, highlights the necessary synergy that must never be missing and that has as its primary purpose the well-being of people, especially the most needy", said in the margins of the donation, Colonel Giannattasio.

In addition, stationery was donated to the Tayr Harfa public school where, among other things, the Task Force's health staff carried out, at the institute's request, a medical screening in favor of more than 150 students of the maternal sections and elementary and have been delivered health materials, clothing and blankets to the Red Cross in the city of Tire. The donation, requested by the Director Mauzayan Siklawi, was made with the intention of helping people in need to face the cold winter weather at the gates.

Finally, a large child education project was inaugurated and will be held in all public schools in southern Lebanon. The health staff of the Task Force, in fact, will continue in recent months a series of lessons that will be aimed at providing suggestions and practical guidance on the correct behaviors about personal care.

The activities have been planned trying to combine the educational and informative aspect with the play activity, so as to be more pleasing to young students and therefore to be more easily followed and learned.

This project of child education was made possible thanks to the production of over 2.000 baby kits, conceived with products and graphics targeted for the occasion and which will be donated to the students.
