Afghanistan: Spectrum Management courses in Kabul

Yesterday morning in Kabul, at the Headquarters of the mission Resolute Support (RS) mission in Afghanistan, the ceremony for the awarding of diplomas to the Officers of the Afghan National Defense Security Forces (ANDSF) who completed the Spectrum Management courses took place for the development of the Afghan Ministerial Spectrum Management Office (MSMO).

The training activity - considered of strategic interest, since the management of the Radio Frequency Spectrum is recognized by the RS Command, as one of the "Main Economy-drivers" for the country - was aimed at providing the basic and advanced notions aimed at improving of communications between the Afghan Security Forces. The 13 attendees of the course come from the Ministries of Defense, the Interior and the National Directorate of Security (the Afghan intelligence service).

The project, which is part of the Train Advise Assist (TAA) activities, the main part of the Afghanistan RS mission, was funded by Norway and developed and conducted by an important Italian component which, in Afghanistan, is part of the Operational Sustainment - Information Communication Technologies (OS-ICT) and Combined Security Transition Command-Afghanistan (CSTC-A).

Various civil and military authorities attended the ceremony, including Donald Yeske, director of OS-ICT, Massimiliano Del Nista, qualified instructor of the NATO Communications and Systems School (NCISS) in Latina (Italy) and certified expert NATO Communications and Information Systems Agency (NCIA) in the field of spectrum and optical fiber management and the major of the Italian Army Alessandro De Luca, project officer of the courses and member of the NATO-Afghan National Army Trust Fund Cell, unit of CSTC-A.
The CSTC-A is the US-led multinational command, included in the RS mission, which, in addition to carrying out training, consulting and assistance tasks for local institutions and security forces, deals with the management of economic resources coming from Contributing countries.

The Italian advisors of Resolute Support, together with the colleagues of the other 41 Coalition Countries, continue to support the Afghan institutions through the implementation of projects aimed at building a stable Country, developing effective and sustainable security Forces and strengthening of the rule of law within the Afghan borders.
