A floating dock with a capacity of 1000 tons was launched on Saturday morning in the Megaride shipyard in Naples. A work carried out thanks to the decisive contribution of the Naval Armaments Directorate in synergy with the Campania Region - the city of Naples in particular - and the Navy, in a renewed and strengthened union in the area of production activities.

The launch ceremony took place in the presence of the highest military and civil authorities, including the logistical commander of the Navy, team admiral Eduardo Serra. The Admiral himself stated: This basin will replace a similar basin that has been disarmed for some years. The new basin is an important contribution to the continuity of the maintenance capacity of the Navy and Mercantile Navy. The new construction created by the "Megaride" shipyard confirms once again the relationship between the Navy and the city of Naples, to which the Marina is particularly linked by virtue of its century-old seafaring tradition and shipbuilding.

The new basin, in addition to increasing the continuity of the maintenance capacity of the Navy and Mercantile Navy, is the expression of the know-how of the Italian industry, Campania, and the Megaride shipyard, which with its 85 years of history and experience, with a staff of 50 workers, meets the needs of shipbuilding in the third millennium.

The basin GO60, this denomination assigned, consists of a platform and two walls, divided horizontally by a security bridge with floodable compartments for the maneuver of sinking and re-emergence, while above the safety bridge have been obtained logistics and operational premises.

After the launch, and after delivery to the Navy, the dock will be transferred to La Spezia to enhance the continuity of the maintenance capacity on the minor navy of the Navy and civilian, effectively increasing the Arsenal's maintenance capabilities and, to a wider extent spectrum, the productive activities of the La Spezia area.

In recent years, the Navy has in fact opened the possibility to the mercantile and industrial world to use its facilities to enhance the potential of its plants and plants, as in the case of the Arsenal of La Spezia, and it is precisely in this context that the dock will provide the necessary logistical support to a wide range of naval and military naval units with 1000 tons displacement limits, 60 meters long and 13 wide.
The Navy is in fact re-qualifying the Arsenals and the annexed structures as "dual" production sites, thus enhancing the intrinsic specialized skills, functional to maintaining the efficiency of the maritime military instrument, which are also available to support public and private companies to favor the growth of the country system.
