There are 18 young people in the Navy who this year obtained the submarine license during a solemn ceremony held on February 8 at the Command of the Submarine Flotilla of Taranto. "They join a family of sailors carrying the dolphin stamped on the heart. Sailors who constitute a specialized component of the Navy elite in possession of a high professionalism and integrated into crews able to conduct the Underwater Units with absolute safety and effectiveness", emphasized the commander in chief of the naval team, team admiral Donato Marzano, during the event.

The dolphin is the emblem of the submariners and the symbol of the Component and was handed over to the newly patented by the senior non-commissioned officer in service during this ceremony, testifying to how important for the Navy the passage of values and traditions by the staff older towards the new generations.

Admiral Marzano pointed out to the new submarines that "this ceremony is not a starting point, but neither is it an end point. Much work still needs to be done to be able to fully integrate into the operational context of the naval team thanks to continuous and increasing training".

The course, which lasted five months, was not simple but allowed the newly qualified to start a path that "it will be challenging and complex, but it will give you back those considerable satisfactions that culminate in the awareness of carrying out every day, at sea and on land, a unique profession, the awareness of being normal men who do special things"as stated by the commander of the submarines, Rear Admiral Andrea Petroni.

Becoming a submariner today, in fact, means embarking on a career of very high specialization, with the fulfillment of increasing responsibilities on board complex underwater units with a very high technological content. This is possible, as well as through the attendance of the Naval Academy of Livorno and the Non-commissioned schools of the Navy, also participating in a special competition for Volunteers in One Year Fixed (VFP1) which allows direct access to the Submarine School.

The announcement is published annually in the Official Gazette and for more information just consult the site of the Navy.
