Historic meeting between the Alpine ship and the USS Constitution in Boston

Last 8 June, the European multi-mission frigate (FREMM) of the Navy Alpine he crossed the historic USS naval unit Constitution before arriving at the mooring in the port of Boston (USA), the last stage of the campaign in North America.

The USS Constitution it is the oldest ship in the world dating back to the 1797, still floating and in active service in the US Navy. It is one of the symbols of the USA and its Constitution since its launch.

The "ship of state" of the US Navy, today charged with promoting its navy and honoring the arrival of other units on special occasions such as that of theAlpine for the first time in the USA, it has taken on historical significance for both Marines, sealed by the exchange of "honors" among naval units in the Boston harbor.

After mooring at the Black Cruise Terminal, theAlpine also received the visit of the Secretary of the USN (or SEC.NAV.) Richard Spencer, chief executive officer of the US Navy Department who, together with the Secretary of the Interior Ryan Zinke and accompanied by the Consul General of Boston Nicola De Santis, was able to visit the modern and latest generation technological systems that make the frigate Alpine one of the best products of the Italian shipbuilding industry.

This campaign is relevant both for the possibility of projecting the image of the Navy, the Armed Forces and the country system in areas of unusual gravitation, and for the support provided to the international competitiveness of important national realities. The important activity aimed at showing and making known the operational capabilities of the Unit in favor of delegations composed of members of the United States Congress and officers of the US Navy is also part of the information process for the definition, from part of the US Navy, of a new class of frigates (US acquisition program called Future Frigate Program FFG (X) intended to bridge the capacitive gap between Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) and class units Arleigh Burke.
