Oasis 17: The Italian Navy trains with the Tunisian Navy

The Italian-Tunisian exercise is part of the military cooperation Oasis 17 just concluded, one of the various activities that the Italian Navy conducts with the Navies of the North African countries bordering the Mediterranean.

In the northern waters of the Tunisian coast, the union between the two marinas has been realized in the renewed intent of consolidating the capacity building aspects.

The cooperation dealt with the most varied topics and allowed the interaction of the on-board teams through joint exercises in the field of maritime search and rescue (SAR), surveillance and control of merchant traffic, combating illegal activities by sea and search and removal of bombs. found on the seabed.

The bilateral event represented an opportunity for strengthening relations between the two marinas. With this the opportunity of mutual professional exchange, allowing to increase the operational capabilities within a natural and wider mutual understanding, and also to focus on aspects of the versatility and interoperability of cooperating forces in a multinational integration context.

Ship Alpine, under the command of the frigate captain Davide Da Pozzo, became spokesman for the expression confidence building within an international sharing framework where the exercise falls.

The initiative fits into a wider dimension of partnerships which aims to strengthen international cooperation, in a context of shared security and in response to the renewed challenges affecting the strategic chessboard of the Mediterranean.
