New production targets for the Augsburg military arsenal. The maintenance of submarines restarts

The last work dates back to the 2004, to the submarine Longobardo. Today, after 14 years, the Arsenale di Augusta has returned to be of reference also for the submarine component of the Navy hosting the maintenance of the submarine Prini in the GO53 floating dock. A six thousand ton basin that opens the new year under the banner of new goals and the relaunch of the productive activities of the Augustan Arsenal.

Decisive for the choice of the Sicilian territory was the farsighted decision to invest in the maintenance of the basin, in particular in the restoration of the efficiency of a series of ancillary services and the recovery of the technical capabilities of the workshops and also of the professionalism of the Arsenale personnel. in particular, interventions on the propulsion engines of the submarine are entrusted Prini which will be conducted by the local engine shop.

"In the strategic vision of the Navy in Sicily, the initiatives of the Directorate of the Naval Military Arsenal of Augusta are directed towards a further re-launch of the military plant's productivity, of great interest and potential development not only for the Armed Forces, but also for the working reality of the territory"commented the Maritime Commander Sicily, Rear Admiral Nicola de Felice.

During the 2017, the Augusta Arsenal received, in the 2 floating docks, 9 Military Ships and a Civil Tugboat, achieving a remarkable increase in the rate of use of the Plant's productive infrastructures.

The activities carried out by the military establishment of Augusta are aimed at maintaining the efficiency of the Naval Units and now also of the submarines of the Navy using the use of personnel and equipment arsenalizie, as well as through the acquisition by the Private Industry of goods and services necessary for maintenance with a view to containing as much as possible the technical, logistical and administrative times of work stops.

The Arsenal also deals with the management of power plants and electricity supply services both for ships at work and for naval units moored at the quay Tullio Marcon of the Patrol Forces Command, as well as all the activities connected with the training.

After having obtained on December 27, at the end of a path that lasted about two years, the release by RINa. (Italian Naval Register) of the certification of conformity of its "Quality Management System to the international standard ISO 9001: 2015" in the sector of maintenance, transformation, modernization and careening of naval units and floats, the Augusta Military Plant continues in this way the enhancement of the professionalism and resources available to the Navy also to promote territorial development.
