With the departure from the port of La Spezia on 14 September, the period of aggregation to the Second NATO Mine Counter Measures Group 2 (SNMCMG2) for the mine hunter began. Numana of the Italian Navy. The integrated multinational maritime force works to ensure the safeguarding of maritime communication routes and accesses to ports from the threat of naval mines.

The international commitment starts with the transfer to the port of Piraeus (Greece) of the force commanded by the Italian Navy captain Alessandro Falcone (COMSNMCMG 2) and composed of the team refueling Vesuvio, from Nave Numana, from the Spanish minesweeper Sella, from the Greek minesweeper Kallisto and from the minesweeper Amasra of the Turkish navy.

During the transfer, kinematic maneuvers will be carried out in training and advanced training for the individual units. In addition, exercises regarding the conduct of mine countermeasures operations will be carried out throughout the aggregation period, which will end in mid-December.

The SNMCMG2 is one of the four permanent naval groups that make up NATO's maritime rapid reaction force.

The mine countermeasures group provides the Alliance with an indispensable operational capacity to ensure, in times of crisis, free access to ports and navigation safety. The permanent groups train continuously with the allied countries and partners, participating in national or multinational exercises, in order to increase interoperability and maintain a high level of training.

Ship Numana, under the command of Lieutenant Vittorio Assuntore, is a coastal minesweeper (Mine Hunter Coastal - MHC) of the class Gaeta delivered to the Navy in December 1993. The unit has a crew of 44 men and women and is able to carry out localization, identification, neutralization of naval mines, remnants of war and ordnance, to ensure the safety of navigation. To carry out these operations, the unit is equipped with underwater-guided Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) underwater vehicles and employs operators of the Underwater Operative Group (GOS) of the Navy.

Ship Numana will leave the NATO group in mid-December with the return of the device to the port of La Spezia.
