Nave Espero performs exercises at sea with the Turkish frigate Gediz

On the morning of 28 July, in the waters of the Central Mediterranean, Nave I hope, engaged in the operation Safe Sea, had the opportunity to perform some exercises with the frigate TCG Gediz, belonging to the class Gaziantep of the Turkish Navy.

A series of kinematic maneuvers, approach simulations for refueling at sea and numerous tactical-procedural activities in favor of the bridge team were carried out, as well as exchanges of radio communications and data between the respective Combat Operations Centers.

The event certainly constituted a precious opportunity for both units to improve their operational capabilities and increase the level of training of the crews, strengthening the degree of interoperability between assets of different nationalities belonging to NATO.

The frigate I hope, under the command of the captain of frigate Alberto Fiorentino is a missile unit and anti submarine belonging to the class Mistral. The ship was launched in Riva Trigoso, the 19 November 1983 was launched and 4 May 1985 entered service. The ship has a crew of about 160 men and women, including the specialized teams of the San Marco navy brigade and the military component of the Navy with an embarked AB212 helicopter.

At the end of the PASSEX the frigate I hope has resumed the transfer to the port of Taranto.
