Three scenarios, three simulations that could occur in real life, in everyday life. Specific activities divided into alert states and consequent operational phases with implementation of the main rules of conduct to be followed: these are the objectives of the joint exercise, carried out today, between the personnel of various categories of the Navy serving in Augusta and that belonging to the Sicilian Territorial Unit of the Army - Sovereign Military Order of Malta (SMOM) with the support of the Italian Relief Corps of the Order of Malta (CISOM) which actively participated to make the simulated scenario even more realistic.

An opportunity to refine the surveillance and protection capabilities of the infrastructure with the immediate intervention of the military in the various scenarios.

"An exercise useful to refine synergies - said the Sicilian Maritime Commander, Rear Admiral Nicola De Felice - in the context of the complementary employment that distinguishes the Navy and the Armed Forces of today at the service of citizenship".

The chief of staff and commander of the EI - SMOM Military Corps, General Mario Fine, attended the exercise day, held at the MARISICILIA base in Terravecchia, who reported "The activity carried out today highlighted the professionalism and skills of the personnel employed as a resource for a future intervention to support the community in case of crisis situations or natural disasters. I thank the Navy and the Sicily Maritime Command for the availability and perfect organization and management of the joint exercise".

The simulated scenarios were aimed at managing three events: a terrorist act at the entrance of the district, a health issue to a sub and a seismic shock with damage to facilities and people.

In this way, it was possible to verify the effectiveness of the operational strategy and the related intervention model, by activating the procedures to be adopted before and during critical events. The aim was to verify the flow of communications, the activation and intervention times of the operating structures; the suitability of the tools and procedures for search and rescue activities; the systems and procedures for alerting and information; the operational procedures envisaged in the event of an earthquake; the rules of conduct and health care operating procedures.
