In the afternoon of today, due to the complication of the general clinical conditions, the doctors of the civil hospital of Taranto have unfortunately noted the death of the first Marshal Gioacchino Verde, non-commissioned officer of the Navy.

Marshal Verde, an experienced coachman and ship's boat, had been involved in an accident on the frigate Bergamini last 12 January, following the breaking of a cable during the mooring phase of the Naval unit at the Mar Grande Naval Station of Taranto , for which investigations into the causes are currently underway.

Promptly rescued by the medical staff on board, the non-commissioned officer was subsequently transported in very serious conditions to the SS Annunziata facility in Taranto where the doctors did their utmost to keep him alive.

The first Green Marshal, at his 36th year of service, had a commendable military career behind him and was esteemed by all, as evidenced by the numerous messages of closeness received in these days to the Armed Forces.

He leaves his wife, Anna, his son, Giuseppe and his daughter Giada.

The Chief of Staff of the Navy, team admiral Valter Girardelli, expresses his personal condolences and the great crew of the Navy to the family of the first warrant officer Gioacchino Verde.
