The 50 edition of the Barcolana concluded in Trieste

Concluded the 50th edition of the Barcolana of records, in which the Navy was present in Trieste with Nave Amerigo Vespucci and an institutional stand with the participation of the Hydrographic Institute.

During his stay, the school ship welcomed almost 21.000 people who wanted to get on board the ship to know its history, beauty and peculiarities.

The events on the Vespucci ship decks started with the presentation of the 25th edition of "Vienna sul Lago", an event of solidarity and culture, the culmination of a training course that involves the official students of the Naval Academy of Livorno, organized by the homonymous committee without profit and by the consortium for the enhancement of the Venaria Reale.

Subsequently, the calendar of the Navy 2019 entitled "Divers and Incursors in the Navy" was presented and, finally, the presentation of the International Sailing Week of the Naval Academy of the City of Livorno, scheduled for spring next year.

But it was also the Barcolana of the narration of the Project 100 by Romano Sauro, nephew of Admiral Nazario, during which the protagonist recounted his life experience with a sailboat of 9 meters, during which he touched 100 ports circumnavigating Italy and covering almost 4000 miles.

There were also some very important visits, such as that of Marina, the children's mermaid doll, along with her chest, which through the Comprehensive Julia Division Institute was able to bring the message of hope and solidarity in all the Italian cities that overlook on the sea, and that of Fulvio Biasutti, one of the first photographers ofAmerigo Vespucci, returned aboard the ship after having participated in the 1954 Education Campaign.
