The Dante Alighieri Society, founded in 1889 thanks to a group of intellectuals led by Giosuè Carducci, is a cultural institution that aims to protect and spread the Italian language and culture in the world, through 483 committees of which 82 distributed on the National territory.

In order to achieve its purpose in Italy, Dante Alighieri participates in activities aimed at enhancing and expanding the nation's culture, and promotes every manifestation aimed at illustrating the importance of spreading language, culture and creations of genius and of the work of the Italians.

Regarding the latter, the La Spezia committee wanted to reward Comsubin, on the occasion of the 29th edition of the day of the Sea, in a ceremony that took place on 11 November 2017 at the officers' club of the Navy of La Spezia. The prize, collected by Rear Admiral Paolo Pezzutti, was awarded with the following motivation:

In the last decade, in which the international situation has shown increasing instability, the operators of the "Teseo Tesei" Underwater and Incursors Group of the Navy have been a solid point for our company, especially for the tireless work carried out on the sea and in the sea in favor of the community, thus demonstrating a profound sense of duty and infinite humanity.

Present in all the international theaters where our armed forces have been engaged for years, the Incursori del Varignano represent an excellence of the Navy, which the Defense uses for the security of the country in the most complex and particular unconventional operations that, very often, they can determine important strategic implications.
Heirs of the heroic exploits of the Navy assault vehicles, which fascinated the world during the last world war, are a pride of our community for their merits and for the skills possessed.

At the same time, the Comsubin divers have shown professional skills and uncommon human values that have allowed them to successfully complete numerous missions, particularly sensitive and dangerous, such as the Costa Concordia accident, the collapse of the control tower of the port of Genoa, the Lampedusa shipwreck and the recent recovery of the boat that sank in the Central Mediterranean in April 2015.
Underwater artificers, these men operate daily in the sea, lakes and rivers for the protection of the population, neutralizing dangerous explosive remnants of war still inhabited by thousands in the waters of our nation.
