Olympic Classes at the World Cup 2014 - The MM on the podium with Laura Linares

03/02/14

Saturday to remember for the blue sail, which last weekend, shone on the final day of the American leg of the ISAF Sailing World Cup, in the waters of Biscayne Bay in Miami. This circuit brings together the best sailors in the world, from the Olympic and Paralympic classes.

In the end, 4 medals won by the Italians, a truly excellent result to which are added some equally satisfying placings.

Silver with a taste of gold (first in the medal race) is that of the Sc ismef Navy athlete Laura Linares who, in front of an amazing Flavia Tartaglini of the Fiamme Gialle, places an important mortgage on the legacy left by Alessandra Sensini in the specialty Olympic sailing board.

The performance of Sergeant Gabrio Zandonà (former world champion in the 2003 and fourth at the last Olympics in the 470 class) was also excellent, who immediately entered the Nacra 17 class and after just two months of training with the new bowman, Giulia Zappacosta, immediately entered in the world top ten placing a highly appreciated 5 place in the medal race.

Great, more generally, the success of the blue sail that counts on the Miami podium, other 5 athletes besides Laura Linares (Bissaro-Sicouri of the Nacra 17 class, Conti-Capcich of the 49er F, Flavia Tartaglini RSX).

The Miami World Cup regatta represented an important element of the work carried out in this first part of the winter preparation and the balance is certainly positive, both from the point of view of the results and the health of the entire Military Sports Group.
