There are 23 young "dolphins", of which 20 Volunteers in Fixed Stops of 1 year, who received the submarine license on 14 September last during the solemn ceremony held in Taranto, at the submarine base of the Navy.

All have passed 16 intense weeks of specialist training and a demanding final exam. In this case, they spent 7 of study among the banks and simulators of the Submarine School, and the subsequent 9 in "immersion" on board the Underwater Units of the Navy, aimed at deepening and putting into practice the acquired technical notions, thus testing its "attitude" to the special life aboard an ultra-technological submarine.

The ceremony, presided over by the commander of the submarines, Rear Admiral Andrea Petroni. it also saw the participation of the dean of the submariners, Admiral Giuseppe Arena, and of a delegation of the National Submarine Component of ANMI.

In celebrating the full entry of young people into the specialist component, the commander of the submarines wanted to emphasize to them that "the path that awaits you is certainly not easy, it will be challenging and complex but I am sure it will give you back those considerable satisfactions. that culminate in the awareness of carrying out every day, at sea and on land, a unique profession of its kind, the awareness of being not "super men or women", but normal people who do special things ".

It is with these words that Rear Admiral Andrea Petroni welcomed the newly patented, also underlining the fundamental work of supporting families in the daily work of sea professionals.

The delivery of the "Delfino" to the new submariner by the first Lieutenant Giuseppe Giannotti, the eldest of those in service, represented a symbolic passage between the old and the new generations. This affirms how important the transfer of the noblest moral values and traditions is to the Navy.

Becoming a submariner means living an exciting and unique profession, with the possibility of a compelling career and continuous training, working aboard technologically advanced vehicles and exploring a world, the underwater one, which together with space represents the last frontier of the genre human.

It is also possible to become a Submariner of the Navy by participating in the competition for Volunteers in Fixed Stops of one year (VFP1) currently in progress, or after having attended the Naval Academy of Livorno or the Non-commissioned Officers Schools of Taranto or La Maddalena.
