General Vecciarelli appointed Chief of Staff of Defense

Yesterday, Thursday 25 October, the Air Squad General Enzo Vecciarelli was appointed by the Council of Ministers, on the proposal of Defense Minister Elisabetta Trenta, as the new Defense Chief of Staff. 

"I am honored to be appointed Chief of the Defense Staff and I strongly feel the duty to serve the country by making all my energies available unconditionally."- General Vecciarelli declared upon hearing the news."It will be a great responsibility and a pride - has continued - guide and represent all the military and civil defense who with dignity, daily at home and abroad, carry the name of Italy high operating with great courage and professionalism always at the service of the country.

With deep and unchanged spirit of service I renew my oath of loyalty to the Constitution and to the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella, guardian of the founding values ​​of the Republic and of the Constitution and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.

I express my gratitude to the government, in particular to the Minister of Defense, Elisabetta Trenta, for the trust granted to me.

I thank the current Chief of Defense Staff, General Claudio Graziano, for the support received in my mandate as Chief of Staff of the Air Force that I will continue to perform with the utmost concentration and absolute dedication until the last day.

To the women and men of the Arma Azzurra, I address my most sincere statement of esteem and admiration for having shared and supported my vision for the change towards an aeronautics projected into the future and increasingly useful for the country."

General Vecciarelli will take over from General Claudio Graziano who from next November 6 will take on the position of Chairman of the European Union Military Committee - CEUMC. 

The Air Force General Alberto Rosso, current Chief of Staff of the Minister of Defense, will lead the Air Force General Staff.
